The Young Leaders Initiative believes that young people have some of the best ideas for helping the church be the best it can be.  Now the METRO YOUTH ENCOUNTER is launching a new format in 2011-2012.  Through day-long gatherings, retreats, and follow up support MYE will provide a collaborative workspace, micro-grants, and ongoing resources for the various youth with creative ministry ideas throughout our Detroit area United Methodist churches.

While taking various forms over the years, the Metro Youth Encounter is focused on gathering United Methodist youth together for cultural immersion and leadership development experiences.   Youth from a diverse collection of churches gather regularly, growing in their capacity for radical discipleship and missional living.  At it's core, this program is designed to help youth re-imagine, re-invigorate, or re-start youth and mission ministries in their home church and community.
